Google Plus Hangouts Review |
Very recently, Google finally stepped into the social
networking bid and opened its new social networking site which is Google+.
Packed with a lot of interesting features Google+ is holding its own in the
social networking market. One of the coolest elements of it is Google Hangouts; its group video chat service!
Google Hangouts looks and feels great
and is both, fun and simple, to use for an everyday enthusiast like myself! The
service is linked with your profile on G+ so it becomes easier to select groups
of friends that you want to invite to your video chat sessions, this makes
starting a
video conference pretty much as what I call: A piece of CAKE! G+
Hangouts is more browser-based on computers, which in my opinion is the best
thing about it since it lets you access the service from any system; though you
can always go for the mobile app supported by handheld devices as well. Voice
and video quality are to the expected standard that Google keeps; which is to
say the least, pretty much okay.![]() |
Google Plus Hangouts |
To get started users need to install a
voice and video plug-in; this takes about 30 seconds to install and after that
you’re all set to start using G+ hangouts. Each video session has a maximum
capacity of 10 people and when creating a hangout, you can choose which group
of contacts you want to invite to your video chat. Each hangout has its own web
address that can be used to invite people. Also, everyone that is in a session
can invite other people to that session; how cool can it possibly get!?! My favorite
thing about G+ hangouts is the YouTube integration. What this basically does is
that it lets all the users in a single session to watch videos in real-time. I
found this both incredibly useful and exceedingly fun. Since it allows Users to
upload videos and presentations relevant to their video chat to YouTube, and
easily share them with all their participants. And the best part is that even
when you’re watching a video you can still see all the participants of your
video chat session. There are some minor bugs like lags between videos sync but
nothing that would spoil the overall experience for you.
G+ hangouts, was Google’s reply to Skype
and they have done a fine job in challenging the supreme reign of skype over
video chat services. With its simple interface, lots of downloads, YouTube
integration and good looks; Google handouts seems poised to take over skype as the most popular video
chat service in the market as of now. An 8 out of 10 score would be feasible
from our side.
